Subject: Thank you
CLA-UWO,
Thank you for taking part in our book donation program by making a generous contribution of $$30.00 to the Iola Foundation made in support of the It Gets Better Project. Your book will be shipped w/in a few weeks to the address designated.
We appreciate the support from so many people like you who want to put an end to anti-LGBT bullying.
More than 30,000 unique positive messages have been recorded to show young LGBT people the possibility of a better tomorrow, if they just believe that it will get better. With your donation, we are able to continue to share these messages of hope and the potential for a bright future with LGBT youth.
The It Gets Better Project will continue to thrive and reach LGBT youth as long as people continue to talk about the Project and share their stories. If you haven’t already done so, please record a video message or submit your written story of how your life got better. Let young LGBT people know how life has gotten better for you.
Share the It Gets Better Project with your friends and family by letting them know that www.itgetsbetter.org is a great place to watch videos and learn about how people are making it better every day for LGBT youth.
Sincerely,
Brian Pines
Treasurer
Iola Foundation
Thank you to everyone who donated.

CLA Supports Western Librarians and Archivists
In September 2011, the librarians and archivists at the University of Western Ontario were on strike. The UWO Student Chapter of CLA issued the following statement of support shortly after a tentative agreement was reached:
From the CLA Mission Statement: "CLA/ACB is my advocate and public voice, educator and network. We build the Canadian library and information community and advance its information professionals."
In our role as advocates for information professionals, we feel it is our responsibility to support our colleagues in this profession as they seek respect and acknowledgement of the vital contribution they make to the university community. The recent strike by UWO's librarians and archivists is in a local context, but its outcome effects everyone in the information field. There is no library without librarians; there is no archive without archivists. In our view, expressing our support for the librarians and archivists is expressing our support of the library and archives as a whole because they are an integral part of a team of employees that make these institutions function. We are very pleased that a tentative agreement has been reached between both parties in this dispute.
Whats happening this week???

At UWO-CLA we help library students make the right connections to help them enter the job market with ease and confidence.
We offer great opportunities to network, like the Mentorship program where we pair you up with a professional in the field to facilitate knowledge exchange and provide guidance to current students entering the profession.
Each semester, we also organize the Networking Event which allows MLIS students to meet with library professionals who are currently working in the filed. This event, which is fashioned similar to speed dating, allows 3 to 4 students to sit with a library professional for fifteen minutes, while they describe their job and answer questions from the students. When the time up, the students rotate to the next table to listen to a different professional. In this way, each student gets a chance to interact one on one with each of the guests.
In addition, each term we also invite a special guest speaker, such as a head librarian at an academic or public library to speak about their experiences in the library profession.
Other great services that CLA offers are library tours and fun, social events such as welcoming event at the beginning of the term as well as an end of term party.
In addition we even offer mock interviews to help students prepare for co-op and real job interviews.
These are just a handful of services offered by CLA to Western Library students.
What is best about the CLA is that it is a 100% student organized group, so you have the opportunity to be a pivotal part of this incredible group.
Make your voice heard through CLA!
Join us for one of our meetings! You may want to sign up for a CLA executive position or be an active member or simply participate in one of our events.
