CLA Networking Event

The student chapter of the CLA will be selling tickets outside the GRC all week from 12:00-1:00pm for the Networking Event.

The Networking Event is a fantastic opportunity to meet with professionals in various fields, including archives, academic, public, and special libraries.

How does it work? Think speed dating without the dating. At the event, students will have the opportunity to speak with various professionals for timed intervals.

The details of the event are as follows:

DATE: Tuesday October, 5, 2010

TIME: 6:00-8:00 pm

LOCATION: Sifton Room of the Masonville Branch of the London Public Library

CLA Bake Sale & 50/50 Draw

Meeting Minutes: September 7, 2010

Minutes:  September 7, 2010

President’s (Keith Walker ) visit is booked - food and drinks need to be arranged - Possible cracker and cheese plate, classier- Grad club is the venue. Food is usually 8-10 dollars per person. Invite wider range of visiting librarians. --- Issues: Budget, and level of formality. Let speaker know level of formality, so he knows what to expect.
Networking - food brought us over budget. Two terms in a row. Need to cut down. Meeting room in Masonville. Tuesday October, 5. Oct 19. might be better. Call LPL and see when is available.
Mock interviews - Oct 13, GRC. Two weeks before - CV/interview seminar (Sept. 29).
Mentorship - invitation email will be sent out end of this week.
Calgary Public Library - email from Sharon - rep. (Karen Mark) coming to speak to FIMS. How to proceed? Will know better next week. No date or time as of yet.
Library Tours - Choose new libraries. Potentially off campus? Children’s Hospital, quite far away. Might need to arrange car pool. We’d also need to see if it’s possible on their side. Sarah inquired about information on arranging library tours.
