October 18th to 24th is Open Access Week

From the Open Access Week site:

"Open Access Week, a global event now entering its fourth year, is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research. 
...
This year’s Open Access Week (October 18 – 24) will highlight the collaboration and collective action that have heightened the momentum behind Open Access and showcase a broad range of initiatives around the globe"

October 17th to 23rd is Ontario Public Library Week

From the Ministry of Culture's site:

"An annual fall event, Ontario Public Library Week was first announced by the province in 1985 and has since become the focus for promoting public library services in Ontario.


A strong library system is the cornerstone of a strong community. Ontario Public Library Week recognizes the important contribution Ontario's public libraries make to education, literacy and life-long learning in Ontario communities."

October is Canadian Library Month

From the CLA press release:

"The month of October is Canadian Library Month across the country with this year’s theme “Your Library: Your World: Opening Doors to the Future” emphasizing the ability of libraries to introduce new ideas, new stories, and new ways into the world around us through both traditional and emerging technologies."
