Welcome everyone! CLA Open Meeting
· Who we are? What we do?
o Liaison between MLIS students and the national organization.
o The
UWO CLA Student Chapter strives to create opportunities for
professional development by hosting guest speakers, networking events,
and library tours, organizing peer and professional mentorship programs,
encouraging leadership and adding some fun with social events.
o Fundraising to put on our events.
o List of open positions circulated and volunteers welcomed.
On the go so far:
- President's visit
- Calgary Public Library Guest
- Networking
- CV writing/Mock Interviews
- Open the floor to ideas?
· GRC rooms reserved for October 13, 2010 from 9-4 for Mock Interviews
· Gives students opportunity to interview with no pressure
· What would you like to see covered by Jim in CV writing
· CV workshop should be approx. 2 weeks prior
· Lunch hour enough?
· Ticket sales volunteers signed up (attached at bottom of minutes)

o Karen Mark: Head of Recruitment for the Calgary Public Library
Fundraising - Discussion of new ideas for fundraising.
· Buttons
· Bake sale – two were done last term, both relatively successful.
· Coffee Mugs, (will be price dependent whether travel or regular.) T-shirts
· Suggested idea: Used book sale
· Suggested Idea: Campus photographs printed up as postcards or actual cards could be sold for revenue
